Discover the story behind Africa's premier high-performance training centre – where Olympic dreams are nurtured on the red soil of Eldoret.
Kipchoge Keino is one of the greatest distance runners in history. He won Olympic gold in the 1500m at Mexico City 1968 and the 3000m steeplechase at Munich 1972, inspiring generations of Kenyan athletes.
After retiring, Keino dedicated his life to nurturing young talent. In 2002, he established the Kip Keino High Performance Training Centre on his family farm — Kazi Mingi — to provide world-class training facilities for promising athletes from Kenya and beyond.
The centre has since become an IOC-recognized High Performance Training Centre, listed by the IAAF, and a home for middle and long-distance champions, refugee athlete scholarship holders, and national teams from around the world.
Two decades of developing champions and changing lives through sport.
What drives us every day at KHPTC
